Thank you for visiting OUR classroom page!  My name is Ms. Toni Hotzfield and I am so excited to be a part of the Palos West School Community!  I am very eager to be working with you and your child this year!  I wanted to take a brief moment and introduce myself to you.  It is interesting how life’s experiences take you to new adventures and experiences!  Upon completing my Bachelors from Saint Xavier University, my “dream job” was to teach Kindergarten.  My first teaching adventure began in 1992 in Chicago Ridge, IL as a Kindergarten teacher.  I continued as a Kindergarten teacher in School District 109.  My knowledge of curriculum and Best Practices grew as did my interest in upper grades.  While pursuing my first Masters in Educational Administration from Governors State University, my professional career changed as well.  I wanted to teach older children along with challenge myself to grow as an educator so; I added teaching grades 3 and 4 as well as a 3rd/4th multi-age class to my “dream job” list.
I began my career here in Palos School District 118 in 2007 teaching 5th grade.  Recently, I have taught fifth grade and am excited to be back in fourth grade as well as sponsoring Student Council! I have recently completed my second Masters Degree in Reading from Saint Xavier University and graduated December 2011!

I LOVE learning new things!  One of my passions is technology!  There are so many new components that we will be using in class.  Feel free to stop in and "tinker" with us!  Just email me first so that I can make sure we stick to our schedule! :-)

I hope this gives you a little background about me.   I believe in being an active member in my school community.  I have an open door policy and am excited to be working with you this year! Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself!  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to write a note or e-mail me at .
