The First Grade homework expectations remain consistent throughout the year. Below are some suggestions on how to meet the expectations.
The spelling test is always the last day of the school week (usually Friday). These are suggestions for how to manage studying throughout the week. Please use your own discretion to meet your child’s needs.
*Write each spelling word 3x each. Be creative… use crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.
* Write 5 sentences using a spelling word in each sentence.
* Review previous spelling lists.
*Write spelling words in a sand/salt tray, paint them with water colors, or make them out of clay.
*Study for spelling test.
*Play after school and enjoy your weekend!
The first grade expectation is to read daily for a minimum of 15 minutes outside of school time. Please remember to initial your child’s PFA reading log and return it at the end of each month.
*Review the “Home-School Connection” note that states the focus for the week.
*Practice fluency passage. (The passages will start coming home in January.)

The first grade expectation is to practice math facts daily for a minimum of 10 minutes outside of school time. Please remember to initial your child's PFA math log and return it at the end of each month.

Please see the Elementary Physical Activity Calendar for suggestions on ways your child can be healthy and active. Please sign and return to your child’s teacher at the end of the month if you have completed most activities or substituted suggested activities with another activity.
