We continued working on solving word problems with addition and subtraction in math.  We are using a bar diagram to help us determine whether we are adding or subtracting.  We are also able to solve multi-step problems and provide rationale.  We will have our Unit Post-Test on Thursday of next week.  A completed study guide will go home in your child’s folder on Tuesday.  It would be beneficial to go over any problem(s) your child struggled with in class.

In Language Arts, we used the strategy visualize to help us read Folktales in the form of a Drama.  We learned that many folktales were told long ago to answer questions about nature, for example, Why are the Sun and the Moon in the Sky?  We also worked on identifying prefixes and suffixes from root words to help decipher the meaning of longer words.
