The First Grade homework expectations remain consistent throughout the year.  Below are some suggestions on how to meet the expectations.

Spelling

The spelling test is always the last day of the school week (usually Friday).  These are suggestions for how to manage studying throughout the week.  Please use your own discretion to meet your child’s needs. 


Write each spelling word 3x’s each.  Be creative… use crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.

* Write 5 sentences using a spelling word in each sentence.

* Review previous spelling lists.


* Write 5 sentences using a spelling word in each sentence.

Write spelling words in a sand/salt tray, paint them with water colors, or make them out of clay.

Play after school and enjoy your weekend J

Reading

The first grade expectation is to read daily for a minimum of 15 minutes outside of school time.  Please remember to initial your child’s PFA monthly reading log.   Please return the log at the end of each month.

The first grade expectation is to practice math facts daily for a minimum of 10 minutes outside of school time.
