Visual Arts at Palos West
Students in grades 1 - 5 receive visual arts instruction once a week for 40 minutes. In each grade level students use production, history, critique, and aesthetics in a variety of mediums that cover the curricular elements of art: form, line, color, space, and texture. Disciplinary connections are also made with classroom units in language arts, science, and social studies.
Every April we celebrate the arts at the Palos West Fine Arts Festival. It is a celebration of visual arts, music and dance. Each student in grades 1 through 5 have a piece of artwork on proudly on display.
