WELCOME!

Classroom Rules:

1. Honesty, Respect, Responsibility!

 If a student chooses to break a rule, the following consequences may occur:

  1. Warning
  2. Individual Conference
  3. Disciplinary action by the teacher
  4. Disciplinary referral
  5. Parent conference

Class Materials:

The following materials must be brought to class daily:

1. Pencils

2. Assignment notebook

3. Math binder- 5 binder tabs

4. Notebook

5. Calculator

6. Red pens

7. Textbook

8. Book cover

Assignments:

Students will be given homework Monday through Thursday. Most of the time, students will not be given homework on Fridays. All assignments will be posted on the board, on a classroom calendar, and on the online school calendar. All assignments are due the following day they were assigned at the beginning of class. Homework must be completed in pencil and all work must be shown. Homework turned in one day late with receive 50% credit. Any homework that is turned in more than one day late will receive a zero; however, it still must be completed and turned in.

 

Absent Work:

If a student is absent, it is his or her responsibility to locate their work in the absent binder in the classroom. All assignments will be posted on a calendar in the classroom, as well as online.

Grade Breakdown:

Homework: 5-10 points per assignment

Quizzes:  20-50 points per quiz

Tests:  50+ points per test

 

*All homework, quizzes, and tests will be organized and kept in your math binder

 

Corrections:

If you receive a D or F (69% or below) on any quiz or test, you may choose to do corrections.  The following guidelines apply:

1.  Corrections must be turned in the next day

2.  Original test must be signed by a parent or guardian

3.  On a separate sheet of paper, the student must re-copy each problem and show all their work

4.  Student must write an explanation for each incorrect problem

 

*The two grades will be averaged up to a 70%

 

Grading Scale:

A = 90 - 100

B = 80 – 89

C = 70– 79

D = 60– 69

F = 59 or below

 

Extra Credit:

Extra credit will be available weekly on www.mathcounts.org. New problems are posted every Monday and problems will be due by Friday.

 

Extra Help:

I will be available Monday through Friday before school. I will also be available after school if any student needs individual help. In addition, students may receive extra help during connections and/or lunch with permission. I am here to help in any way that I can!
