Welcome! My name is Mrs. Carrie Martinez and I began my career as a teacher in 1988. I have been teaching in District 118 since 1991. Before coming to District 118, I taught for three years in LaGrange Park, School District 95. For the past fourteen years, I have been working with the accelerated learners in grades 1 - 5 in the ALPS Program at Palos West. Prior to this position, I was a first grade teacher for seven years and a third grade teacher for seven years. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Loyola University of Chicago, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I have endorsements in reading, language arts, and social science. I also earned my Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University. I expanded my background and knowledge working with higher-level learners and obtained my Verification in Gifted Education. Implementing engaging, instructional strategies is exciting and rewarding for me. I truly enjoy teaching and working with children in various grade levels, as I believe every student brings something special to the classroom.
