Welcome, my name is Joy Adams. I am a speech /language pathologist at Palos West School currently working with the Early Childhood program as well as first, second, and fifth grade students. I have worked at all three buildings with children preschool age through the eighth grade.
I obtained both my Masters and my undergraduate degrees at St. Xavier University and I have worked within the district since 1999.
I maintain my Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech/Language Hearing Association (ASHA), our professional national governing, and certifying board; and am additionally an active member of the Illinois Speech/Language Hearing Association (ISHA) and South Cook County Speech Hearing Language Association (SHLA).
I am also a respiratory therapist and prior to working in District 118, I worked at Little Company of Mary and Palos Community Hospital in that field. Additionally, I have two college age children who attended our district schools. My husband and I live in the district with our dog and cat.

I have an extensive
background and my clinical experiences include outpatient hospital settings, an
early childhood program, and a therapeutic day school. I am an active member in
the Palos community and I am very fortunate to work with the amazing students
and faculty at 118. I am very passionate about the field of speech-language
