Hello. My name is Katie McDonough and I have been teaching at Palos South for 18 years. I love working in the neighborhood in which I grew up. I attended Illinois State University for my both of my bachelors’ degrees and St. Xavier University for both of my masters’ degrees. I am thrilled to be working with your child this year and am looking forward to a very successful year.
I have had many positions since I arrived here at South. I began teaching grades 6, 7, and 8 – many different subjects. Then I taught 6th grade math for 4 years. But for the past 10 years, I have been teaching math and language arts in 8th grade on 8A. This year I am teaching with Mrs. Lindsay Wulf and Mrs. Barb Duffy. And this year I have the privilege to be teaching a social studies class in 6th grade on team 6b and one of the Capstone classes! Our capstone class is concentrating on the environment and the overpopulation of deer in this area. I invite anyone who has an idea or suggestion for our class to email me. Thanks.
In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I also am one of the sponsors for Cardinal Pacesetters for 8th grade students. I work many basketball and volleyball games. I am always at One District One Book and many other South and 118 events. Please ask me any questions you may have about any of these activities.
